{"id":16642,"date":"2024-10-28T07:25:03","date_gmt":"2024-10-28T07:25:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businessadapter.es\/linkedin-fined-by-ireland\/"},"modified":"2024-12-11T10:45:00","modified_gmt":"2024-12-11T10:45:00","slug":"linkedin-fined-by-ireland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businessadapter.es\/en\/linkedin-fined-by-ireland\/","title":{"rendered":"LinkedIn fined by Ireland"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">310 million fine<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The social network <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LinkedIn<\/a> <\/strong>has been fined 310 million euros by the Irish Data Protection Authority<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dataprotection.ie\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">(DPC<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This hefty fine is due to the processing of personal data of LinkedIn users without their consent and for the purpose of analyzing their behavior and adjusting their advertising.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-15122 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/businessadapter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/linkedin-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businessadapter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/linkedin-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/businessadapter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/linkedin-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/businessadapter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/linkedin-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/businessadapter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/linkedin-50x50.jpg 50w, https:\/\/businessadapter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/linkedin-320x320.jpg 320w, https:\/\/businessadapter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/linkedin-900x900.jpg 900w, https:\/\/businessadapter.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/linkedin.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a> the purpose of analyzing their behavior and adjusting the advertising directed to them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Therefore, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dataprotection.ie\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DPC<\/a> argued that the processing had no legal basis, considering this as a serious violation of the provisions of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boe.es\/doue\/2016\/119\/L00001-00088.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GDPR.<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This new sanction demonstrates how important it is to obtain the prior consent of data subjects to process their personal data, reminding <a href=\"https:\/\/businessadapter.es\/en\/who-is-the-data-controller\/\">data controllers<\/a> that this general rule is always an obligation, never an option (except for the exceptions established in the regulation) and that the risk of sanction for non-compliance is real.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, it has released an update to its <a href=\"https:\/\/es.linkedin.com\/legal\/privacy-policy?trk=homepage-basic_footer-privacy-policy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Privacy Policy<\/a> in which it has unveiled some changes in reference to its <strong>generative AI.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>310 million fine The social network LinkedIn has been fined 310 million euros by the Irish Data Protection Authority(DPC).
