Create a strong password without forgetting it

Create a strong password without forgetting it

Create a strong password and remember it always, it does not seem simple but it can be done using a pattern.

A password is the entrance key to our information, so you should spare no effort in creating a strong password and remember it. So we will show you how to do it based on the recommendations made by the OSI, since we think it is a very interesting technique:

Think of a sentence

If it has meaning to you, it will be easier to remember.

That no one else but you knows it and that it has at least 10 letters, because it will increase by itself. Example:

My dream car is a Ferrari

Case-sensitive

Now, join all the words together and highlight the initials with capital letters:

MyDreamCarIsAFerrari

Substitute letters for numbers

Exchange some letters for numbers that you remember, for example: “o” for 0, “i” for 1, “e” for 3 or “a” for 4.

Customize the key for each service

It is important that the password is not used in all the services, because in case it is deciphered it would access to all our services.

Use a sequence that you will always remember. For example, use the initial letter of the service name at the beginning and another at the end of the password.

If the service is called ”Banco Santander”, we could, for example, use the B and the S:

Change of passwords

You have created a 27-character password, so you now know how to create a strong password, in fact a very strong password.

With a strong password like this, you can afford to change it 3 times a year, but it must be changed, because even if it is almost impossible to crack, it could be possible that someone could access or view it accidentally or illicitly.

Use Password Managers

If you frequently change your passwords and it is difficult to remember them, we recommend you to use the so-called Password Manager , which will help you to store them securely and even create secure passwords for you.

Two-factor authentication

To armor yourself, activate a second authentication factor, which is usually based on sending your smartphone a single-use code that complements the username and password.

This code can be sent via SMS or a code-generating APP.

Any security measure will protect your information and help you comply with the Data Protection Regulation if you are a company or professional.
