How to create a secure password
The management of secure passwords is a bit cloying, but without a strong authentication system, the security of our information is not guaranteed.
The Office of Internet Security, better known as OSI, provides us with some tips to make our passwords strong and give us the confidence we need in a digital environment in which we are increasingly vulnerable.
6 Tips for creating a secure password
These would be the steps to follow and some improvements that we propose from Business Adapter®:
- We will think of a sentence that may or may not make sense to us, with a minimum length of 12 characters.
- We alternate capital letters with lowercase letters and join all the words together.
- Substitute some letters for numbers. Maybe this will help you: A for 4, E for 3, I for 1, S for 2.
- Add symbols or special characters (% & / * + – ! etc.)
- Customize the password for each web page, program, etc.
- Use two-factor authentication systems (e.g. SMS to your cell phone). Each IT solution provider will be able to offer you their options (e.g. Google Authenticator, Microsoft, etc.). Ask your IT colleagues or specialized provider for support.
But you can improve it
With all this, we will already have a strong password, but if we also apply some additional tips that we have all heard but that we find it difficult to put into practice, there will be no cyberattack or cybercriminal that can with us, and these are:
-Do notrepeat or share passwords
–Change it frequently (at least every 3 months).
–Use password managers or also known as Password Manager (e.g. Keepass or Bitwarde).
–Hiding the characters of our password on our devices
