What we may not have asked ourselves so enthusiastically is what precautions we should take into account when using and interacting with ChatGPT.

It is essential to assess the risks of using ChatGPT and comply with the Data Protection Regulations. It is therefore recommended that the use of the tool, do not use or share personal data that can identify us or make us identifiable, locate you and much less if it is sensitive or confidential data, either individuals or companies, since there is no guarantee that such information can reach other people or companies. It is better to use fictitious data.

Applicable legal framework:

It is necessary to verify and check with specialists the answers that the AI tool can provide us with, since in many occasions such answers are not written in the respect to those indicated by science (for example, doctors) or by the norms (for example, laws), which is risky not to verify it, without forgetting that using such information in different forums or publications, can generate legal consequences.

Implementation of limits:

AI is in the process of regulation through the proposed European Artificial Intelligence Act; and in Spain, the Statute of the Spanish Artificial Intelligence Supervisory Agency (AESIA) has already been approved and its headquarters are located in La Coruña.

Ethics:

Without regulation, we impose our own limits, according to our own criteria and ethics.

All our activity should be governed by ethics, seeking the common good and personal, without offending others. In the use of ChatGPT these ethics must remain and be our guiding principle so that the results we obtain are beneficial in general.

Parental supervision:

Technology today is within everyone’s reach, even the youngest ones. The control of this use of tools must fall on the parents and/or guardians, so that the minor uses it as we have already said, from the perspective of ethics, legality and common sense.

Truthfulness of the information:

It is absolutely necessary to check and verify that the information provided by ChatGPT is accurate and up to date.

Apply criteria and perform a bias analysis of the information provided by ChatGPT.

How can I strengthen my security in Chat GPT?

In response to the criticism that ChatGPT has received from experts regarding the lack of personal data protection measures, followed by open investigations and bans adopted by international data protection control authorities, including the AEPD, it was implemented in the tool itself the possibility for the user to decide whether or not it was visible in his account, the history of chats that had been made, so that it would not be stored for 1 month by the application itself.

To activate the option to delete the chat history, follow these steps:

2-. En tu usuario, selecciona la opción de “Settings” o “Configuraciones”

3-. Después, selecciona “Data Controls” o “Controles de Datos”

4-. Desactiva el permiso en “Chat History & Training” o “Borrar todos los chats”

From that moment on, all your chat history will disappear from the left sidebar and the space where you ask questions to Chat GPT will be black (similar to when you surf privately on the Internet).

ChatGPT in the workplace

Chat GPT or any similar AI has come to make our way less tortuous, if we talk about working, as it can help us infinitely to find information and solve doubts or create content with an agility never seen before.

As we have already said, this progress is neither innocuous nor free, since we must pay attention to the limitations that have been detected in the use of these tools and not lose our way when we use them.

Companies, faced with the boom in the use of this chatbot, have considered whether or not to take measures in this regard in their work environment, with their own employees; and with this, again, we talk about the limits to be set for the use of this application.
