5 Tips to avoid telephone scams

Telephone scams are a growing concern, and it is important to be alert so as not to fall for these scams, which are more common than we might think and have very negative effects.

Thinking that it can never happen to you is a mistake, that’s why we offer you five tips to avoid becoming a victim of telephone scams:

1-. No compartas información personal :

Never reveal personal information such as ID numbers, bank account numbers, social security numbers, passwords, or credit card information over the phone, especially if the call is unexpected.

Legitimate entities will never request this information in an unsecured manner.

2-. Desconfía de llamadas no solicitadas :

If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from a company, entity or public administration, or any other entity with which you do not have an established relationship, hang up and verify the authenticity of the call by searching for the official number of that entity and calling directly.

3-. No cedas a la presión :

Scammers often try to create a sense of urgency or threat to get you to act quickly without thinking.

Stay calm, take your time to assess the situation and don’t feel pressured to make immediate decisions.

If necessary, hang up and verify the legitimacy of the request made to you.

4-. Usa la identificación de llamadas y bloquea números sospechosos :

Use Caller ID to avoid answering calls from unknown or suspicious numbers.

You can search online for the phone number that called you to see if there are reports of associated scams.

If you repeatedly receive suspicious calls, block those numbers. Many phones and service providers offer tools to block and report unwanted calls(Iphone or Android).

5-. Verifica antes de actuar :

Never agree to relinquish control of your PC to anyone who calls to fix a problem you didn’t report, no matter how convincing it may sound.

Do not visit websites that ask you to visit and never download and install software that callers try to direct you to.
